Israel kills 14 in southern Lebanon after trading fire with Iran
Israel Defence Forces strikes in southern Lebanon near Tyre and Nabatieh have killed at least 14 people and wounded 35, according to local officials. Lebanon's government called for an emergency UN session as Hezbollah said it had not ruled out retaliation.

Al Jazeera reported that the Lebanese Ministry of Health said 14 people had been killed and 35 injured in Israeli air strikes over the past 12 hours. The Israel Defence Forces said the targets had been "Hezbollah rocket-launch infrastructure."
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun called for an emergency UN Security Council session and asked for a "neutral international observation mission." A spokesperson for Hezbollah's military council said the group "has kept the option of a military response open after the recent strikes." The UNIFIL commander said patrols along the border had been temporarily suspended.
A U.S. State Department spokesperson called on "all parties to take de-escalating steps." The EU ambassador to Lebanon said additional humanitarian-corridor talks had been launched in Beirut.
