Cubans protest after third nationwide power cut this year
Cuba is facing renewed public anger after its third nationwide power cut of the year, with residents still without electricity in some areas venting frustration even as officials say power has mostly been restored. The blackouts have deepened public discontent on the island.

Cuba's power grid collapsed nationwide for the third time this year, leaving millions without electricity for hours, and in some areas for days. Cuban officials said power had largely been restored, but the system remains unstable and some neighbourhoods are still in the dark.
Residents still without power vented their anger in the streets; the outage, which struck during hot weather, spoiled food, halted water pumps and disrupted daily life. The island has grappled for years with chronic energy crises, worsened by ageing infrastructure, fuel shortages and the US embargo.
The government said it was working to repair the grid and had fixed faults at thermal power plants. But the repeated blackouts are deepening frustration with the authorities among Cubans already struggling with economic hardship.
