The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey will release its second 2026 inflation report on Thursday morning in Istanbul. In its February report, the bank projected year-end headline inflation at 24 percent. The current median market expectation stands at 26 percent.
Governor Fatih Karahan will present the assessment at a press conference, covering the policy rate path, exchange rate pass-through, and pressures on food items. At the most recent Monetary Policy Committee meeting, the policy rate was kept at 47.5 percent, with the bank reaffirming a tight stance.
April consumer prices rose 2.3 percent, lifting annual headline inflation to 38.7 percent. The recent jump in Brent crude is expected to add pressure through energy and food channels. According to Anadolu Ajansı, the lira held flat near 38.9 against the dollar ahead of the report.
