Iran war live: US strikes Qeshm and Goruk, Kuwait reports missile and drone attacks

CENTCOM spokesman Rear Admiral John Buccino said in a statement that the strikes were conducted 'in legitimate self-defence' and 'on the basis of prior intelligence assessment'. Iranian presidential office spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani described the US operation as 'a multiple violation of sovereignty'.
Kuwaiti Defence Ministry spokesman Colonel Adel Al-Mershed said the same afternoon that 'missile and unmanned aerial vehicle attack attempts' had been intercepted by air-defence systems on the eastern coast of the country. No official attribution was made for the source; regional sources cited by Reuters pointed to the Houthi group. The Kuwaiti Emiri Council submitted an urgent briefing to the UN Security Council.
US-Iran negotiations continue under Omani and Qatari mediation.
