Nigerian troops rescue 34 kidnap victims, arrest ISWAP informant
Nigerian military forces rescued 34 kidnapping victims during an operation in Borno state. The operation also led to the arrest of an alleged informant for the armed group ISWAP and the recovery of weapons.
Nigerian troops carrying out Operation Hadin Kai in Borno state rescued 34 people who had been kidnapped by armed groups. The victims were being held along a road route in the area.
During the operation, security forces also arrested a man alleged to have supplied information to the Islamic State West Africa Province, known as ISWAP. Several weapons were recovered in the raid.
Military officials said security operations in the area would continue, with efforts ongoing to rescue other kidnap victims still being held. Borno state has remained a region where armed groups have operated for years.
