Iran calls US strikes 'reckless military adventure' as Hormuz talks turn tense
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi branded a one-day US military operation in the Strait of Hormuz a 'reckless adventure'. Tehran said Washington's strikes while diplomatic options remained on the table were unacceptable.

Speaking to reporters in Tehran, Araghchi said that 'every diplomatic opening keeps being shut by another US strike' after Washington hit two Iran-flagged tankers. The minister called for an emergency UN Security Council session.
US officials counter that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard-linked tankers had violated the Pentagon's 'free transit' rule in the Strait of Hormuz. President Trump said a 14-point peace plan drafted by Pakistan and Oman is under review, with permanent-status talks expected in Geneva in June.
The Iranian rial slipped 0.8% against the dollar on Tehran's parallel market, and Brent crude traded 1.5% above the previous close. In US trading, defence stocks RTX and Lockheed Martin both closed more than 2% higher.
