UN says fighting deepens needs and fuels further displacement in Sudan

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said ongoing fighting in Sudan continues to deepen humanitarian needs and is fueling fresh waves of displacement across the country. In an assessment released Monday, the agency said chronic funding shortfalls are severely limiting the humanitarian response on the ground.
OCHA officials said civilians in active conflict areas are becoming increasingly vulnerable, and the agency called for stronger international action to protect them. Millions of people across Sudan have already been forced from their homes, with aid organizations saying available resources fall far short of what is needed.
Sudan's crisis remains one of the largest humanitarian emergencies fueling instability in the region. UN officials warned that conditions could deteriorate further in the coming months unless funding appeals receive a stronger response from donor nations.
