Tata Electronics, ASML join hands for semiconductor manufacturing in India
India's Tata Electronics and Dutch chip-equipment giant ASML announced a partnership to build out the country's semiconductor manufacturing base. The deal places European technology at the centre of India's chip strategy. The move could reshape Asia's competitive map in the global semiconductor supply chain.

India's Tata Electronics and Dutch firm ASML, the world's leading supplier of advanced chip-making equipment, said they will form a wide-ranging partnership to scale up India's semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem. The agreement was unveiled during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the Netherlands.
The cooperation covers lithography systems, engineering training and supply-chain localisation. Tata is building plants in Gujarat and Assam, and the ASML tie-up directly bears on the technology level of those production lines.
India is pushing to capture a larger share of global semiconductor output amid U.S.-China tech tensions. The sector is expected to attract more than $25 billion of investment over the next decade. Investment figures for this deal have not been disclosed; the two sides plan to sign a detailed technical memorandum next month.
