The US Tsunami Warning Center said it measured waves of roughly 0.3 metres in Puerto Madero and the state of Chiapas. Local officials said no major damage or casualties had been reported as of the latest update.
The centre lifted its tsunami alert after several hours of assessment. Authorities urged residents along the coastline to remain alert for aftershocks.
