Nigerian film star Alexx Ekubo dies aged 40

According to BBC Africa, Nigerian actor and model Alexx Ekubo has died at the age of 40. A statement from his family did not give details on the cause of death.
Ekubo had been one of the leading faces of Nigeria's film industry, known as Nollywood, in recent years. He had starred in numerous productions and had worked closely with several humanitarian organisations.
Fellow Nigerian actors and fans expressed grief through tributes shared on social media. Industry representatives said Ekubo had made important contributions to broadening the international recognition of Nigerian cinema.
