US Congress advances American-Israeli military integration plan
The U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee has advanced legislation that would deepen the integration of American and Israeli defence industries, Al Jazeera reported. The proposed bill includes joint procurement procedures and technology-transfer steps, drawing sharp reactions from Palestinian representatives and several Arab diplomatic missions.

The U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee has moved to a voting stage on legislation that would deepen integration between the American and Israeli defence industries. Al Jazeera reports that the bill includes joint procurement procedures, joint R&D funding and framework provisions to facilitate technology-transfer approvals; committee chair Jack Reed described the package as 'a step that would take interoperability between the two militaries to a new level.'
Palestinian UN representative Riyad Mansour said the bill 'supports occupation policies and is inconsistent with international law.' Spokespersons for Saudi Arabia and Egypt's foreign ministries warned of 'a framework that could affect regional balances,' and Türkiye's foreign ministry spokesperson Oncu Keceli said 'efforts to make bilateral diplomatic gains durable should be accompanied by steps that reduce broader conflict risk.'
U.S. State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said the package 'does not contain new commitments beyond existing contracts,' but added that the technology-transfer provision would be coordinated with EU export-control boards. A full Senate vote is expected within the next three weeks, while the House of Representatives version is still being discussed in the Foreign Affairs Committee. The EU Council's Monday agenda includes a proposal for a negotiator-observer record.
