Turkey's BIST 100 index closed at a record high, led by banks and industrial shares. Investors took heart from the disinflation path and relatively elevated lira interest rates.

The benchmark BIST 100 closed at an all-time high, lifted by a sharp rally in banking stocks and broad demand for big-cap industrial shares. Trading volumes ran above the three-month average.
Investors drew comfort from the central bank's tight policy stance even as headline annual inflation rose to 32.37 percent in April. Foreign equity inflows have stabilised in recent weeks, while two-year bond yields traded sideways.
The Iran war and its pressure on energy prices remains the dominant short-term risk. On the corporate side, however, first-quarter 2026 results have so far surprised to the upside, providing the main fundamental support behind the record close.
