Body of US Soldier Missing in Morocco Found and Identified
Morocco confirmed that the body of one of the US soldiers who went missing after a joint exercise has been found and identified. An autopsy will determine the cause of death.

Morocco's Interior Ministry said that the body of one of the US soldiers who went missing after a joint exercise has been found and formally identified. The body was located in mountainous terrain south of Rabat.
The family in the United States and the Pentagon have been notified following confirmation of the identification. The statement said the soldier's name would be released officially after Pentagon next-of-kin protocols are complete. An autopsy will distinguish between accident, exposure or other possible causes of death.
Morocco and the United States updated their joint military exercise protocols last year. Morocco, a major non-NATO ally, has expanded defence cooperation with Washington in recent years. Search-and-rescue teams said the operation to locate the remaining missing soldier continues in the area. The US National Security Council issued a message of condolence after the news.
