Thailand school shooting death toll rises to 9 after girl, 12, dies
The death toll from a school shooting outside Bangkok rose to nine after a critically wounded 12-year-old girl died on Saturday. The 14-year-old attacker had killed his grandparents at home before opening fire at his school and then taking his own life.
A 14-year-old student opened fire at Debsirin Nonthaburi School in Thailand's Nonthaburi province around 10am on Friday. A 12-year-old girl who was critically wounded in the attack died on Saturday, bringing the death toll to nine.
Officials said the attacker had killed his own grandparents at home before heading to school, where he opened fire before turning the gun on himself.
The attack has prompted Thailand's prime minister to vow stricter gun laws, reigniting a nationwide debate over school safety and access to firearms.
