Iran fires missiles at Israel after Beirut attack 'crossed all red lines'
According to Al Jazeera, Iran launched ballistic missiles at Israel, citing the Israeli strikes on southern Beirut as having 'crossed all red lines'. It marks the first direct Iran-Israel ballistic exchange since the April ceasefire.

Al Jazeera reports that Iran launched ballistic missiles at Israel following Israeli air strikes on southern Beirut. Tehran characterised the strikes as a violation that 'crossed all red lines'. Israeli air defences intercepted some of the missiles, sirens sounded across the country, and Hezbollah issued a statement condemning the Beirut strikes.
Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati called for an urgent UN Security Council referral and asked for an intensified UNIFIL patrol presence. The US State Department urged that the April ceasefire be preserved, while EU foreign-policy chief Kaja Kallas described the strikes as a serious escalation. Qatar, Oman and Switzerland said they remained at the mediation table.
Watch: outcomes of the Israeli cabinet's emergency meeting, any further military movement in Lebanon, the UN Security Council session, and mediation channels that could open via Iran-Saudi Arabia. The direction of the risk premium at Monday's market open will also be tracked.
