China and Serbia agreed to deepen security and economic cooperation. The two countries' leaders highlighted an 'ironclad friendship' and strategic bonds during Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic's first state visit to Beijing.
In a comprehensive joint statement issued on Monday, the two sides said they would deepen cooperation in counterterrorism, 'preventing colour revolutions', tightening security for major events and Belt and Road Initiative projects. That language is attributed to the joint statement.
Serbia is expanding its economic and infrastructure ties with China while continuing its EU accession process. Analysts say the visit is part of Beijing's effort to consolidate its influence in Europe. The two countries said new steps on trade and investment are on the agenda.
