Russia Launches Hundreds More Drones at Ukraine, Killing Three
Russia launched a fresh wave of hundreds of drones at Ukraine overnight, killing at least three people. Ukrainian air defences shot down most of the drones, but the regions of Sumy, Kharkiv and Mykolaiv reported casualties and damage. The attack again dimmed hopes for a ceasefire.

Ukraine's general staff said about 250 Iranian-design Shahed drones were launched into the country overnight. Air-defence units shot down most of them, but falling debris and direct hits on infrastructure caused fires in several regions.
The heaviest casualties were reported in Sumy and Mykolaiv, where local authorities said at least three civilians were killed and many more were injured. Energy company DTEK said two thermal power plants were temporarily knocked offline.
Kyiv continued to press the United Nations and the European Union for additional air-defence systems, while Moscow said the strikes targeted military objectives. The wave of attacks has revived doubts about whether the ceasefire proposals floated in recent weeks can be put into practice.
