UN humanitarian workers in war-torn Sudan say needs are growing rapidly among the more than 100,000 displaced people now sheltering in camps in the city of El Obeid. Food scarcity has become a critical concern in the camps.

United Nations humanitarian workers operating in Sudan say needs are rapidly growing among the more than 100,000 displaced people now sheltering in camps in the city of El Obeid. Officials say food stocks are nearing critical levels.
Families in the camps are also struggling with a lack of clean water, basic healthcare and shelter materials. Aid organizations say ongoing fighting is complicating access to the region, with relief convoys frequently delayed for security reasons.
International aid groups warn that without closing the funding gap, hunger in the camps could deepen into a severe humanitarian crisis in the coming weeks. As Sudan's war enters its third year, the needs of the country's displaced population continue to multiply.
