US gives Ukraine licence to build its own air defence missiles
President Donald Trump said the United States will license Ukraine to manufacture its own air defence missile systems, following a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at a NATO summit. The move marks a major win for Kyiv, which has long sought the technology to counter Russian missile attacks.

Russian strikes on Ukraine on July 8 killed at least seven people, Kyiv's army said, as it reported hitting several Russian tankers in fresh overnight attacks. The exchange came just ahead of a meeting between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at a NATO summit.
Following the meeting, Trump said the United States would license Ukraine to manufacture its own air defence missile systems domestically. The technology, which Kyiv has long sought to counter Russian missile attacks, is being described as a major coup for Ukraine's war effort.
Zelensky said technical details still need to be agreed before production can begin. The arrangement is expected to strengthen Ukraine's air defence capacity and bolster its resilience against continued Russian strikes.
