All protocol and security preparations are complete for the Organization of Turkic States informal summit in Turkestan, Kazakhstan. Presidents of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan are expected, with Turkmenistan attending as an observer. Hungary and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will also take part in observer capacities.

Leaders are set to discuss energy trade, the Caspian transit corridors, joint defence-industry projects and digital-infrastructure investment. Turkey's exports through the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars rail link to Central Asia are growing, and the summit is expected to accelerate fresh agreements.

Turkestan was chosen as host city for its historical role as a cultural centre of the Turkic world. The OTS was founded in Nakhchivan in 2009 and now covers member-state populations exceeding 175 million people. Markets and diplomats will watch the final joint declaration closely.
