European travel giant Tui says summer bookings down 10% on Iran war caution
One of Europe's largest tour operators, Tui, has reported a 10% drop in summer bookings, blaming heightened caution over the Iran war for UK customers delaying or scaling back holiday plans this season.

European package-holiday giant Tui has reported a 10% drop in summer bookings, blaming heightened consumer caution over the war in Iran. The operator said UK customers in particular were delaying or scaling back holiday plans, with destinations close to the conflict zone showing the steepest declines.
The fall came despite Tui's pre-summer promotional pricing and reflects a wider shift in European holidaymaker behaviour. Travel insurers have raised premiums on Middle East–adjacent destinations, while airlines have rerouted flights around closed airspace, lengthening journey times and pushing fares higher.
Tui executives said they expect bookings to recover only once the geopolitical picture stabilises. The shares fell on the trading update, deepening a multi-month underperformance for European travel stocks as airline capacity discipline, Iran-driven oil prices and weakening consumer confidence all weigh on summer demand.
