He framed the openness as a position of strength, saying America can negotiate because "we are in the lead". The comments came during the Trump-Xi summit in Beijing.
The two governments are expected to outline a joint safety protocol for advanced AI models in the coming weeks. Washington will keep export controls on the most powerful chips in place, while Beijing has pressed for those restrictions to be eased.
Investors are watching for spillovers into semiconductor and cloud supply chains. Nvidia, AMD and the major US hyperscalers stand to feel direct effects of whatever framework the two sides finally agree.
