DR Congo's healthcare workers go on strike as Ebola epidemic spreads
Health workers battling the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo have gone on strike over unpaid wages, just as the World Health Organization warns the virus is spreading faster than in any previous outbreak. More than 2,000 cases and 754 deaths have been recorded so far.

Health workers fighting the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo have gone on strike to protest months of unpaid wages, a move that directly threatens efforts to contain the epidemic.
The World Health Organization has warned that the virus is spreading in the DRC at a faster pace than during any previous Ebola outbreak. More than 2,000 cases, including 754 deaths, have been recorded so far.
International aid groups say the longer the strike continues, the greater the risk that the outbreak spirals out of control, and are urging the Congolese government to urgently pay health workers what they are owed.
