WHO foresees Ebola cases rising in DR Congo and Uganda
WHO Director-General Tedros said there are 101 confirmed Ebola cases in the Democratic Republic of Congo and 7 in Uganda. Despite efforts to scale up the response, case numbers are expected to rise.

World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said there are 101 confirmed Ebola cases in the Democratic Republic of Congo and 7 in Uganda. Tedros said that despite efforts to scale up the response, they expect case numbers to rise in the period ahead.
The outbreak's spread to two countries requires close monitoring of cross-border contacts and of pressure on health systems. The WHO said field work continues to strengthen vaccination, contact tracing and treatment centres.
Officials stress that early diagnosis and community outreach are critical to slowing transmission. The WHO also warned that the response could become harder if international financing and logistical support fall short. This content is not a substitute for medical advice.
