Village in Ghana celebrates Aston Villa win with parade
A village in eastern Ghana has celebrated Aston Villa's FA Cup victory with a colourful parade. Local residents consider the club their adopted English side, thanks to its connection to a young Ghanaian footballer who spent his formative years there.

A village in the Hohoe district of eastern Ghana has celebrated Aston Villa's FA Cup victory with a vibrant parade through the central square. Residents waved Aston Villa-coloured flags, with the procession marching down the main street in regional kente cloth and accompanied by traditional drum ensembles.
The village considers Aston Villa its 'own' club. Its bond with the side stems from a young Ghanaian footballer who grew up there and rose through the club's academy. Village elders said the player has invested in the area every pre-season and has opened an indoor training facility for youth players.
The parade illustrated Ghana's deep integration with global football culture. Officials noted that the growing flow of young Ghanaian players is creating ever closer ties between the country and Premier League clubs. Video clips of the village brass band have racked up millions of views on social media, and Aston Villa shared the celebration on its official accounts.
