One killed in Gaza as Turkish foreign minister meets Hamas official to discuss peace
A Turkish foreign minister met a senior Hamas official in Doha to discuss disarmament and prisoner exchanges in Gaza, while one person was killed in a fresh Israeli air strike in northern Gaza. Türkiye is signalling it intends to expand its mediation role between Hamas and Israel.

A Turkish foreign minister met with a senior Hamas official in Doha to discuss the ongoing prisoner swap and demands for the group's disarmament. The meeting came as the Gaza ceasefire continues to hold tenuously and indirect Hamas-Israel contacts have resumed under United States pressure.
While the talks were under way, an Israeli air strike in northern Gaza killed at least one person. The Health Ministry said the number of wounded over the previous 24 hours had risen into double digits, while Tel Aviv said the strike targeted 'Hamas military infrastructure'.
Ankara said it intends to widen its mediation role on the Doha track alongside Egypt and Qatar. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's calls for Türkiye to play a bigger role in the peace process are being followed closely both in the European Union and across Gulf capitals.
