Crews have so far recovered five bodies, while 41 people remain missing. Some rescued passengers have been taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Indonesian authorities said ferry safety oversight nationwide would be reviewed and that findings from the investigation would be made public.
