Turkish defence industry deepens Italy ties as BEST Group partners with Base Studio
Turkey's BEST Group, part of Tera Holding, signed a strategic partnership with Italian armoured vehicle engineering firm Base Studio at the SAHA EXPO defence fair in Istanbul. The deal covers next-generation armoured platforms and export-focused projects. It is the latest sign of Turkey's deepening defence-industrial ties with European partners.

BEST Group, the defence arm of Turkey's Tera Holding, has agreed a strategic partnership with Italian military vehicle engineering firm Base Studio, the companies announced at the SAHA EXPO defence fair in Istanbul. The deal covers next-generation armoured platforms, defence technologies and export-oriented projects.
The alliance underlines a broader trend: Turkey's defence industry, which has expanded rapidly on the back of unmanned aerial vehicles and armoured platforms, is now binding itself more tightly to European suppliers. Ankara is positioning itself as both a NATO-compatible producer and a major exporter to Gulf, African and Central Asian markets.
Industry officials said armoured vehicle order books were expected to stay strong through the year, supported by the Strait of Hormuz tensions and rising global defence spending. The BEST-Base Studio tie-up is expected to lay the ground for joint bids on future tenders and a deeper technology-transfer pipeline.
