Trump leaves China after talks focus on trade, oil and Taiwan
US President Donald Trump wrapped a two-day visit to Beijing, with talks centred on trade, oil purchases and Taiwan. Trump said Chinese leader Xi Jinping had accepted an invitation to visit Washington in September, and that Beijing agreed to buy US crude oil.

Trump departed Beijing on Friday after two days of talks with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, the White House said. The meetings focused on trade imbalances, energy purchases and renewed tension across the Taiwan Strait. The US delegation included Tesla chief executive Elon Musk, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Apple's Tim Cook.
Trump told Fox News that China had agreed to buy US crude oil with what he called an "insatiable appetite", a comment that pushed oil prices higher. The president also said Beijing would order 200 Boeing jets, falling short of the 500-aircraft package floated before the trip.
Xi cautioned that mishandling Taiwan could destabilise the wider relationship between Washington and Beijing. Trump confirmed he had invited the Chinese leader for a return visit to the White House in September. Investors will weigh the summit's concrete outcomes when Asian markets reopen on Monday.
