Chinese memory module makers ramp up production as CXMT DDR5 breakthrough hits market
Chinese memory module manufacturers are accelerating the release of consumer and enterprise storage products powered by domestic DDR5 chips, following a breakthrough by ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT). The move is seen as a key step in reducing China's dependence on foreign chip supply chains.

According to the South China Morning Post, Chinese memory module manufacturers are accelerating the release of consumer and enterprise products following ChangXin Memory Technologies' (CXMT) breakthrough in DDR5 production technology.
CXMT is the largest domestic memory chipmaker in China, and its move to mass-produce DDR5 is seen as a tangible sign of Beijing's strategy to reduce dependence on foreign suppliers in semiconductors. US export restrictions had already prompted China to step up investment in domestic capacity.
Industry analysts said domestic DDR5 chips are unlikely to challenge the global market power of Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron in the near term, but they could capture meaningful share in the Chinese domestic market. Production volumes are expected to ramp up sharply by year-end.
