Bahraini authorities said sirens sounded for an extended period in the capital Manama and that formal confirmation is still in progress.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) said it shot down several Iranian drones and, in response, struck two Iranian radar sites. Tehran has not directly addressed the question of responsibility for the wider salvo, but state media said US and Israeli actions "make the right of self-defence necessary." The Gulf Cooperation Council called an emergency meeting.
In markets, Brent crude rose more than three dollars within hours, and regional airlines announced temporary route adjustments over the Persian Gulf. Analysts told reporters they are watching for any spillover into key chokepoints such as the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandeb. This is not investment advice.
