Fedorov has since said he would accept no government position other than his former job, deepening the political crisis. One Ukrainian lawmaker said reinstating Fedorov was the only right decision President Zelensky could make.
The shake-up comes at a pivotal point in the war with Russia. Analysts say the change in command could affect both battlefield strategy and Kyiv's domestic political stability at once.
