DR Congo Cobalt Exports to China Investigated Over Uranium Content, CMOC Disputes Claims
An investigation by Lighthouse Reports, the Financial Times and Le Monde has examined possible uranium content in cobalt shipments exported from the Democratic Republic of Congo to China. The reporting is tied to a confidential International Atomic Energy Agency memo obtained in 2024 concerning a mining site in Katanga province. Chinese mining group CMOC, which owns the site, disputes the investigation's findings.
