Russia, Ukraine trade deadly overnight strikes in Belgorod, Kharkiv, Odesa

Russia and Ukraine exchanged another round of deadly overnight strikes, extending a pattern of cross-border attacks that has continued largely unabated through the war. Civilians on both sides were killed and dozens more were injured as drones and missiles struck residential and border areas overnight.

In Russia's Belgorod border region, Ukrainian drone attacks killed five people and wounded around two dozen others, regional officials said. Belgorod, which sits directly across the border from Ukraine's Kharkiv region, has been repeatedly targeted throughout the conflict and has become one of the most frequently struck areas inside Russian territory.

On the Ukrainian side, Russian missiles struck a high-rise apartment building in Kharkiv, killing two people and leaving several more injured, according to local authorities. Separate strikes hit the Black Sea port city of Odesa, injuring additional residents. Neither government signaled any shift in strategy following the latest exchange.
