US says it struck Iranian radar sites as Iran targets American forces in Kuwait

BBC Middle EastAccording to BBC Middle East, US Central Command (CENTCOM) spokesperson Captain Pat Ryder said Iranian radar sites neighbouring the Strait of Hormuz were struck overnight. Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps spokesperson Brigadier General Ramazan Sharif announced that Camp Buehring in Kuwait, hosting US forces, was attacked with missiles and drones.
Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry spokesperson Abdullah Al-Mershed said 'air defence systems intercepted all targets'. According to US defence officials speaking to the BBC, no US personnel stationed in Kuwait were wounded. Reuters reporters in Manama observed increased movement by the US Fifth Fleet stationed in the region.
Kuwait's Emir Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah convened the national security council. Al Jazeera reported Brent prices rose from 99.5 to 102 dollars a barrel within hours. Goldman Sachs analyst Daan Struyven forecast that the conflict zone expanding beyond the Strait's eastern shore 'will keep the 8 to 12 dollar risk premium at the upper band'.
