Xi Warns Trump That Mishandling Taiwan Could Imperil US-China Ties
Chinese President Xi Jinping told Donald Trump at their Beijing summit that mishandling the Taiwan question would put US-China relations in great jeopardy. Trade, AI, Iran and rare earths were also discussed during the talks. No concrete trade deal was announced after the first day.

Chinese President Xi Jinping warned US President Donald Trump on the first day of their two-day Beijing summit that mishandling the Taiwan question would put the relationship between the two powers in great jeopardy. Trade, rare earth elements, artificial intelligence and Iran also featured prominently in the talks.
White House officials described the exchanges as constructive. However, no concrete trade agreement or tariff rollback was announced at this stage. Speaking to reporters, Trump said Xi had assured him that China would not supply arms to Iran during the regional crisis.
The two leaders are set to continue their talks on a second day. Markets are focused on the eventual joint communique and any possible understanding on rare earth export controls. Tensions over Taiwan remain the single largest geopolitical risk on investors' radar.
