Turkey calls on Israel to avoid escalation in Syria and to help preserve the existing ceasefire
Turkey's Foreign Ministry called on Israel to scale back its military activity in Syria and to contribute to the preservation of the existing regional ceasefire. The statement described recent Israeli air strikes on Syrian territory as unacceptable. The message came on the same day the UN Security Council also urged an end to Israeli violations in Syria.

Turkey's Foreign Ministry issued a written statement on Israeli air operations conducted over Syrian territory in recent weeks. The statement said the activity was directly damaging regional stability and called on Israel to end its military actions in Syria and to contribute to the preservation of the existing ceasefire arrangements.
The call comes at a time when Ankara has been intensifying diplomatic contacts on the Syrian conflict map. The Foreign Ministry stressed that what is happening in Syria should not be folded into the broader war against Iran and that the region must be kept clear of any new front opening up.
On the same day, the UN Security Council also called on Israel to end its violations in Syria. Turkey said it would step up diplomatic contacts with Damascus, regional governments and international institutions. The official statement added that Turkey is continuing to maintain its security posture along its southern border.
