Dow recaptures 50,000 as S&P 500 closes above 7,500 for first time
Wall Street hit new highs as an AI-led rally lifted major indexes. The Dow added 370 points to retake 50,000, and the S&P 500 closed above 7,500 for the first time ever.

U.S. equities closed at fresh records on Wednesday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 370 points to reclaim the 50,000 mark, while the S&P 500 finished at 7,516, its first close above 7,500. The Nasdaq Composite also touched a new peak, with AI-themed stocks driving much of the session's turnover.
The rally was led by artificial-intelligence hardware names. Nvidia firmed ahead of next week's earnings release after UBS raised its price target, while shares of Cerebras Systems, which debuted on Nasdaq this week, extended sharp opening gains and underlined investor appetite for AI silicon plays.
Kevin Warsh's arrival as Federal Reserve chair has been received cautiously, but risk appetite is holding up. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent reiterated his view that the economy faces "substantial disinflation" ahead, supporting bonds. Investors now turn to Nvidia's quarterly print and to oil-price dynamics tied to the Iran conflict for the next directional cue.
