Argentina's YPF files for largest-ever RIGI project at $51 billion
Argentina's majority state-owned energy company YPF has filed to enroll its Argentina LNG project in the country's RIGI investment incentive regime. The $51 billion project is the largest ever submitted under the scheme, underscoring the scale of the country's Vaca Muerta gas ambitions.

Argentina's majority state-owned energy company YPF has formally applied to enroll its Argentina LNG project in the country's flagship investment incentive program, known as RIGI. The company said the project's total value now stands at $51 billion, making it the largest application ever submitted under the scheme.
The project aims to convert vast shale gas reserves in the Vaca Muerta basin into liquefied natural gas for export. RIGI offers tax and customs advantages to attract large-scale foreign investment, and is central to the government's strategy to position Argentina as a major energy exporter.
Analysts said approval of the application could help move Argentina into the ranks of global LNG exporters within the coming years. YPF's management said the project's construction phase is expected to generate thousands of jobs once underway.
