Three police officers killed in car bomb attack in northwest Pakistan
A car bomb attack on a police station in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has killed three officers and wounded a further dozen people. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility; the attack puts Pakistan's worsening security crisis along the Afghan border back into focus.

A car bomb attack on a police station in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province killed three officers and wounded at least a dozen others. Officials said the bomb went off near a checkpoint despite heavy perimeter security around the building.
The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, or TTP, claimed responsibility. The group has sharply intensified attacks on the Pakistani army and police in recent months, while Islamabad has demanded that the Afghan Taliban move comprehensively against TTP sanctuaries inside Afghanistan.
The security crisis is wearing down Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, two provinces critical for Pakistan's IMF programme and Chinese investment plans. Regional partners, including Türkiye, are stepping up consultations on border security cooperation. The United States has signalled that fresh counter-terrorism technical support remains on the table for Islamabad.
