Eid al-Adha set to give a boost to Turkey's leather sector
Hides collected during Eid al-Adha provide roughly $800 million of economic momentum to Turkey's high-value leather and fur sector, TRT Haber Ekonomi reports. The holiday period marks one of the year's biggest inflows of raw material for the industry.

Eid al-Adha is one of the most important sources of raw material of the year for Turkey's leather sector, TRT Haber Ekonomi reports. Hides collected during the holiday are said to provide roughly $800 million of economic contribution to the high-value leather and fur industry.
The report stresses that the domestic raw hides entering the market over the holiday reduce reliance on imported material and offer the sector a cost advantage. Processing the collected hides feeds a range of sub-sectors, notably footwear, clothing and leather goods.
Industry representatives say proper collection and processing could lift that contribution further. TRT Haber Ekonomi notes that this seasonal inflow also matters for Turkey's leather exports.
