Ukraine launches fresh drone attack on St. Petersburg region on final day of 'Russian Davos'
France 24 reports that Ukraine has again targeted refineries and energy infrastructure near St. Petersburg after President Putin rejected peace talks. The strike coincided with the closing day of Russia's flagship SPIEF economic forum.

France 24 reports that Ukrainian forces launched a coordinated drone strike in the early hours of 6 June targeting refineries and electricity substations in the Leningrad region. Russia's defence ministry said air-defence systems shot down more than 30 drones, while the regional governor's office confirmed fires at several facilities.
The attack coincided with the final day of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which Russia bills as its own Davos. Speaking at the conference the previous day, President Putin rejected a face-to-face meeting proposed by Volodymyr Zelensky and said Moscow would not abandon its war goals. White House and European Commission spokespeople said Moscow had deliberately closed off diplomatic channels.
The US House passed a new Russia sanctions package last week, and the EU's 19th sanctions package is in the final stage of technical negotiations. Analysts say continued strikes on energy infrastructure through the summer could add fresh volatility to global oil prices. This is not investment advice.
