Ukraine says major Crimea bridge destroyed in latest attack
The Ukrainian military said the Chonhar bridge — one of the main logistical corridors into Crimea — has been destroyed in a long-range missile and drone strike. Russia retaliated by firing a ballistic missile at Volodymyr Zelenskyy's hometown of Kryvyi Rih, killing four civilians.

The Ukrainian General Staff said in a Tuesday morning statement that the Chonhar bridge had been rendered unusable in an overnight combined strike using Storm Shadow missiles and drones. The bridge was one of two main road links from the Kherson region into Crimea.
Moscow-appointed Crimea governor Sergey Aksyonov confirmed the strike but said the damage was « repairable in nature. » Ukrainian military intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov said a campaign was underway to « isolate Crimea step by step. » A White House spokesperson confirmed that US authorisation for Storm Shadow use remains in effect.
In retaliation, Russian forces fired a ballistic missile at Kryvyi Rih in the early hours of Tuesday; four people were killed and 18 injured. On X, Zelenskyy said Putin « is targeting everyone, including innocent civilians. » EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas urged member states to speed up deliveries of new air defence systems.
