A rights monitoring group said a drone attack carried out by Sudan's army killed at least 35 people in Darfur. The strike reportedly hit a residential area, and the group warned the death toll could rise further.
The attack is the latest bloodshed in an ongoing civil war between army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and Rapid Support Forces commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, a conflict estimated to have killed tens of thousands of people and displaced millions. Darfur remains one of the regions hit hardest by the fighting.
Humanitarian groups say access to the region remains severely restricted, with civilians continuing to be caught in the crossfire. International mediation efforts have so far failed to secure a lasting ceasefire.
