Six-year-old Ebola patient taken from DR Congo hospital found alive and doing well
Health teams in the Democratic Republic of Congo said a six-year-old girl who had been taken from a hospital during Ebola treatment has been found and is doing well. Officials warn that misinformation and fear during the outbreak have driven a rise in attacks on healthcare facilities.

From the Ebola-affected areas of the Democratic Republic of Congo, officials confirmed that a six-year-old girl taken from a hospital has been found alive and is doing well. According to BBC Africa, the child was undergoing treatment in one of the regions most heavily hit by the outbreak.
Health authorities said misinformation circulating during the outbreak has driven an increase in attacks on health facilities. Some families, frightened by their lack of understanding of the disease's progression, removed patients from the care of medical teams.
The World Health Organization and DRC health authorities said they have strengthened local health communication teams to explain the outbreak to communities. Officials added that vaccination campaigns have been extended through new routes and that community-level training on funeral and burial practices has been expanded.
