Mali: Russia's 'Africa Corps' airstrikes kill civilians, HRW says

Human Rights Watch says Russia's Africa Corps, the paramilitary force that replaced Wagner, carried out an airstrike on a Malian village held by an Islamist armed group. The rights group described the attack as apparently indiscriminate and said it killed civilians.

Mali's military junta has grown increasingly reliant on Russian paramilitary support in its fight against jihadist groups across the country. Rights organizations say civilian casualties from such operations are frequently undocumented.

HRW called for an independent investigation into the incident and accountability for those responsible. Mali's government and Russian officials have not yet commented on the report.
