Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps said it carried out a strike on Kuwait, describing it as retaliation for US strikes on Thursday. The claim came as Iran continued attacks on US-linked targets across the Gulf.
Regional tensions had already escalated after a drone attack sparked a fire on gas ships at a Mediterranean port in Egypt. Gulf states have voiced concern about being drawn into the wider confrontation on their own territory.
Countries such as Saudi Arabia are trying to stay out of the direct US-Iran conflict, though analysts warn the situation could shift quickly. International actors are continuing diplomatic contacts aimed at securing a ceasefire.
