Turkey breaks daily export record in Republic history with $2.4 billion
Turkey broke the daily export record in Republic history with USD 2.4 billion in a single day last Wednesday. Trade Minister Ömer Bolat said automotive, chemicals and ready-made garments led the surge. Pre-holiday shipping concentration was a technical trigger.

Turkey's Trade Minister Ömer Bolat announced to Anadolu Agency that Wednesday's USD 2.4 billion export figure was the highest single-day volume in the history of the Republic. Bolat said 'our economic programme continues to strengthen the export-led growth model; efficiency improvements at customs exit gates contributed directly to the figure'. Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) data identified the daily contribution of the automotive main industry and ready-made garments sectors at USD 412 million and USD 287 million respectively.
TIM Chairman Mustafa Gültepe commented that 'stock preparation by importer firms before the Eid al-Adha holiday traditionally creates export concentration in late May; however, this year's figure also reflects structural strengthening of the broader trend'. The Ministry of Treasury and Finance announced that 12-month cumulative exports had reached USD 285.4 billion, drawing closer to the USD 300 billion target for end-2026.
The Central Bank reported that export earnings were positively reflected in foreign exchange supply and lowered current account deficit projections to 1.8 per cent of GDP. Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır in a parallel statement underscored that manufacturing industry value-added share had quadrupled over 23 years. Goldman Sachs Turkey economist Clemens Grafe published a note saying 'if foreign exchange inflow into the lira continues, more gradual rate-cut space may open by end-2026'.
