Israeli airstrikes devastate southern Lebanon's Tyre
Al Jazeera's field video shows widespread destruction in the historic city of Tyre after repeated Israeli airstrikes. Lebanon's Health Ministry updated civilian casualty and infrastructure damage figures while the United Nations repeated calls for a humanitarian corridor.

Al Jazeera correspondent Ali Hashem said footage from Tyre documented heavy damage to residential blocks and the coastal strip from repeated Israeli Air Force strikes over the past 24 hours. Lebanon's Health Ministry spokesperson Hadi Abiad said initial data show 18 civilians killed and more than 60 injured in the 24-hour window.
Israel Defense Forces spokesperson Avichay Adraee said the targets were Hezbollah weapons-storage and missile infrastructure, while Lebanese Deputy Prime Minister Najib Mikati restated that 'independent verification of footage is not easy' and that compliance with international humanitarian law must be central. UNIFIL spokesperson Andrea Tenenti said coordination teams dispatched under UN Security Council Resolution 1701 are preparing an independent assessment.
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas said the EU Foreign Affairs Council will hold an extraordinary session on Monday, while Türkiye's Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Oncu Keceli said diplomatic calls for the protection of civilian infrastructure are being maintained. UN OCHA Lebanon coordinator Imran Riza said additional negotiations are under way on humanitarian corridor routes. This piece is not legal advice.
