Iranian Nobel Laureate Granted Bail and Hospital Transfer Amid Health Crisis
Iran's Supreme Court ordered the release on bail of Nobel Peace laureate Narges Mohammadi due to her deteriorating health. According to her defence lawyer, the activist has been transferred to a Tehran hospital and is awaiting a heart procedure.

Officials at Evin prison, where Mohammadi has been held for more than six years, said the ruling will be implemented within 24 hours. The activist was convicted on charges including propaganda against national security and disturbing the public order, with a cumulative sentence of 12 years.
Her lawyer, Massoud Movahedi, said she had developed cardiac arrhythmia and bone disease over recent months. The family is requesting a treatment plan that allows for external medical consultation after the hospital admission. Iran's government has yet to issue an official statement, and it remains unclear whether the release is permanent.
Amnesty International and the European Parliament welcomed the decision but reiterated their call for an unconditional release. The US State Department said its human rights sanctions on Iran are not under review. Mohammadi was already imprisoned when she received the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize; her family accepted the award on her behalf in Oslo.
